Locksmith licensing requirements differ extensively between states; in some states locksmiths need to cross an exam and in others, states they simply need to pay a licensing fee. The locksmith may ask to see your ID, in order to verify your identification and that you're the property owner. You by no means know once you'll want a locksmith.
